This API standard specifies requirements for the qualification of distributors of metallic materials used in thepetroleum and natural gas industries.

This standard is applicable to distributors of metallic bar, plate, and tubular products where API product standardsrequire such services or are otherwise specified as a requirement for compliance. For organizations that manufactureand distribute metallic material, this standard only addresses the distribution portion of their processes.
